A recent report found that Representative Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) were the most active contributors to X of all members of Congress this year. It is said that report
Roy, who represents Texas' 21st Congressional District, was the most active lawmaker on X in 2024, posting 9,799 posts, according to a Dec. 17 report by Washington-based public relations firm Quorum. I wrote it. Mr. Cruz came in second on the list with 9,056 posts.
Quorum said it analyzed all posts about X by members of this year's 118th Congress. The report covers activity on the platform from January 1st to November 30th. Most members of Congress have two accounts: one that represents the office in an official capacity and one that is personal.
Rep. Don Bacon (R-Nebraska) came in third place after Mr. Cruz, with 7,584 posts. Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (RN.Y.) placed fourth with 6,052 posts, and Congresswoman Nancy Mace (RS.C.) rounded out the top five with 6,013 posts.
There were no Democrats in the top 10. The most prolific poster on X was freshman Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.), who posted 3,983 posts and came in 15th on a list dominated by Republicans.
So far in 2024, members of Congress have posted a total of 628,998 tweets on X, slightly more than in 2023, when they tweeted 616,701 times during the same period, according to the report. Quorum noted that the slight increase in 2024 was likely due to it being a presidential election year and increased activity on the platform.
Top Democratic posters who posted on X a year ago have scaled back their activity on the platform in 2024, the report found. Rep. Dwight Evans (D-Pennsylvania), who represents the state's 3rd Congressional District, was the most active X poster last year, posting 4,567 posts. With 1,541 posts so far, usage has decreased by 66% in 2024. California Reps. Robert Garcia and Ted Lieu (Democrats), who were the second and third most frequently posted posts last year, have seen declines of 35% and 26%, respectively, this year.
