Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was disbarred Thursday in Washington, D.C., for false claims he made on behalf of former President Donald Trump about the 2020 presidential election.

A Washington, D.C., court has previously suspended Giuliani's law license for 2021, and a review board last year suspended Mr. Giuliani's law license in Pennsylvania, which seeks to overturn Mr. Trump's 2020 presidential election loss to Joe Biden. It had recommended that Giuliani be disbarred because of his claims in the lawsuit.

Giuliani, once hailed as “America's Mayor” for his leadership after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, has been mired in legal troubles since the 2020 election.
He faces criminal charges in Georgia and Arizona for allegedly plotting to overturn the 2020 election results.
He was charged with nine felonies in Arizona and 13 felonies in Georgia. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges in both cases.
The former mayor also filed for bankruptcy in December after being awarded a $148 million defamation lawsuit in which he falsely accused two Georgia pollsters of trying to steal votes from President Trump in the Peach State. I applied.
