Rudy Giuliani's attorney says the FBI was hesitant to handle Hunter Biden's laptop during the home raid because it was too controversial.

In 2021, when FBI agents executed a search at Rudy Giuliani’s residence and office, they consciously avoided handling Hunter Biden’s laptop hard drive, despite ongoing tax evasion investigations against the eldest Biden son, according to Giuliani’s attorney on “Pod Force One.”

Robert Costello, who represented Giuliani in matters tied to the 2020 election, shared with Miranda Devine that the investigators deemed the hard drive “radioactive.” They were fully aware that Giuliani possessed the hard drive and was delivering information to The New York Post, making concerns about keeping the details under wraps increasingly tenuous.

Costello noted, “They knew Rudy Giuliani had them.” The hard drive subsequently fueled a significant report by the Post in October 2020, detailing Hunter Biden’s attempts to leverage his father’s vice presidency for lucrative deals in Ukraine and China.

Furthermore, Costello characterized the FBI raid and the agency’s efforts to minimize the explosive findings in the Post article as “the best evidence of election interference during the 2020 campaign.”

Reflecting on a conversation he had while Rudy was on the phone with the FBI agents, Costello recounted asking the lead agent whether he recognized what a hard drive looked like. To that, the agent affirmed, “Yes.” Costello then described Giuliani’s office and the presence of two or three hard drives on his desk, explicitly stating, “That’s Hunter Biden’s hard drive.” The lead FBI agent promptly insisted, “Oh, we’re not going to touch them,” contradicting the directive to seize all electronic devices.

Costello pressed further, reminding the agent, “Those are electronic devices. The warrant calls for them.” Yet, the FBI agent reiterated, “I’m not touching them at all. They’re staying here.”

This led Costello to question the rationale behind treating the hard drives as if they were hazardous material. His conclusion? They must have known they were dealing with something significant.

Later federal and Congressional investigations would affirm that the Biden family had received considerable foreign funding; however, the initial reporting from the Post, revealing emails that illustrated the influence-peddling scheme, resulted in the locking of its Twitter account.

In 2019, the FBI confirmed that it had authenticated Hunter Biden’s laptop, and during the Post’s initial report release in October 2020, an agency representative assured a Twitter moderator that the emails found on the device were genuine.

However, it was later disclosed through a testimony from Twitter’s former integrity head that the FBI created confusion, anticipating a “hack-and-leak operation” connected to Hunter Biden.

A signed letter from 51 former intelligence officials, many under investigation themselves, suggested the Post’s report was part of a “Russian intelligence operation.”

While Special Counsel David Weiss concluded he could not demonstrate that business dealings amounted to unregistered foreign agent actions, Hunter Biden pled guilty in 2024 to tax evasion and illegal firearm possession, only to be pardoned shortly after by his father.

Costello asserted on “Pod Force One” that the actions of the FBI regarding the Hunter Biden case substantiated Giuliani’s claims about election interference. He stated, “Hunter Biden’s laptop itself proves that what he’s doing is telling the truth. Still, they disqualified him because it was part of cancel culture. Take away his reputation, take his money, and take away his license to practice law.”

In conclusion, Costello mentioned being in touch with informants aiming to confirm Giuliani’s claims about Biden’s influence over Ukraine, mentioning a source who indicated that Joe and Hunter Biden had indeed received $10 million in bribes from Burisma Holdings executives.

Finally, he noted his ongoing efforts to connect these informants with the necessary authorities, asserting that their cooperation could validate Giuliani’s assertions concerning Ukraine.
