This is arguably the most violent act in sports.
Joseph Suaree, making his debut for New South Wales, 7 minutes 25 seconds He was ruled out in the opening game of the 2024 Origin series after a nasty hit from Queensland fullback Reece Walsh.
After Walsh made a pass, Suaali’s shoulder struck the fullback on the head, sending him falling to the turf at the Accor Stadium. (RELATED: Sky’s Angel Reese ejected from Liberty game after altercation with umpire)
The National Rugby League (NRL) announced Suaalii’s punishment on Wednesday, banning him for a total of four matches if he pleads guilty at an early date.
The suspension will mean Suaali will miss the second match of the Origin series and multiple Roosters matches, with him unlikely to return until Round 18 at the earliest.

This is Joseph Sualie’s tackle on Rhys Walsh, which in my opinion was careless as his shoulder made direct contact with Walsh’s head. pic.twitter.com/SKUWdS6CGJ

Reece Walsh will not return tonight having suffered a concussion in the collision, apparently caused by a direct hit to the head.
He will now be in the 11-day waiting period as per NRL concussion protocol. Hopefully he’ll be OK. #origin pic.twitter.com/TQdYWOX277

To clarify sideline reports that “Reece Walsh has passed his HIA”, it only means that he has passed the cognitive test in the shed.
Effectively, the first question in the HIA was “Did you experience any symptoms of category 1 concussion” and Walsh did – meaning it was still a concussion and still the 11 day waiting period.

Graphic – For those questioning/doubting the validity of obvious signs of concussion (Category 1).
Once again, we hope Walsh is OK and not suffering from ongoing symptoms. pic.twitter.com/Ibdyvzx7qt
