Rumble Makes Move to Acquire Northern Data AG
Rumble, a tech platform focused on freedom, has announced its plans to acquire Northern Data AG, a key player in AI and high-performance computing infrastructure. This decision aims to position Rumble as a counterforce to the left-leaning tech influences in Silicon Valley.
The acquisition, revealed on Monday, involves Rumble making a voluntary tender offer to all shareholders of Northern Data. This strategic step is seen as a way to expand Rumble’s cloud business and enhance its AI initiatives.
Through this deal, Rumble is set to boost its cloud offerings by adding about 22,000 Nvidia GPUs and will gain access to a network of revitalized data center locations around the globe. This is a significant moment for Rumble, aligning with its goal to cultivate a technology platform centered on freedom, privacy, and independence. It’s noteworthy that Rumble already hosts Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform.
With the acquisition, Rumble will not only enhance its cloud and data operations but also broaden its international presence, particularly in Europe. Northern Data boasts one of the largest GPU clusters in the region, complementing Rumble’s strong brand in the U.S. This merger could unlock new possibilities for expanding data capacity in Europe while reinforcing investments in the Americas to tap into lucrative AI markets worldwide.
Tether, a prominent player in the stablecoin sector, plans to become a key customer for the merged entity once the deal is finalized. This follows Tether’s recent strategic investment of $775 million in Rumble.
The acquisition is expected to boost Rumble’s video business, enhancing its GPU resources and introducing new AI capabilities. Chris Pavlovsky, Chairman and CEO of Rumble, stated, “Freedom First is a new way forward for technology. Unlike Big Tech, it represents a future where technology empowers rather than controls.” He expressed the company’s ambition to expand this ecosystem into new domains like financial services, AI chatbots, productivity tools, and fresh web navigation solutions.
Further developments regarding Rumble and other companies challenging large tech entities will continue to be reported.
