Rumors of a new alarming Chinese AI ‘species’ spread through tech communities

When China introduced the Deepseek-R1 in January, it surprised the global market by performing on par with, or even exceeding, the capabilities of its U.S. counterpart. This advancement significantly impacted American stocks due to its lower production costs.

Now, there are whispers about an upcoming R2 model. This isn’t your typical AI. It’s said to be an entirely new type of intelligence, one that has yet to be imagined by other leaders in AI development.

According to a source, “It’s a completely different species of intelligence that operates on principles no one in the West has even theorized.” There’s speculation that it might be linked to “an insider at a prominent AI research firm” or perhaps a “bot” designed to mislead researchers, reportedly through an anonymous account named @iruletheworldmo.

“Research in this area has raised questions and proposed an entirely new branch of mathematics. One physicist noted a dilemma he’d wrestled with for 15 years,”

An anonymous insider also indicated that China’s Deepseek Labs is working on brain-enhancing tech featuring two-way neural interfaces, claiming it would put Neuralink to shame. It’s even in the human testing phase. These sources flagged a crucial point; China sees this as a race that could redefine society, while the U.S. seems to be treating it like just another technical challenge.

If Deepseek AI truly reaches this level of advancement, we might be in for a tough time. Still, there’s also the possibility that “it’s a Chinese bot.”

Glenn pointed out how he doesn’t quite know “the crazy part” of it all, which adds to the intrigue.

Even if the claims are exaggerated and Deepseek AI isn’t as close to these capabilities as some suggest, Glenn reflects that “AI will be very effective. We can predict nearly every action people take.”

Recently, a general named Brigham revealed an AI tool that evaluates health through selfies. This system, which analyzes faces, can estimate biological age, evaluate skin texture and muscle tone, identify signs of cancer, and predict survival outcomes for cancer patients.

“How amazing is that?” Glenn comments, “But also, how terrifying?”
