‘Running for the Love of His Country!’

UFC fighters have been some of the most vocal supporters of Donald Trump in sports, and Irish UFC legend Conor McGregor is no exception.

Hours after the horrifying incident on Saturday in which an assassin’s bullet grazed the former president’s upper right ear during an outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, McGregor appeared on X to voice his support for the man seeking reelection out of “love of country.”

“A 78 year old billionaire should be cruising golf courses on a yacht in the Mediterranean. But he’s not. He’s spitting bullets in Pennsylvania! Running for the love of country! Good luck Donald! God bless America,” McGregor said. I have written.

The FBI identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as the man who tried to assassinate Trump as he was addressing a crowd of thousands. Crooks was shot and killed by Secret Service agents. Another rally attendee, former fire chief Corey Comperatore, died after jumping to protect his family, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said.

Despite rumors that he would reschedule his trip to Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention, President Trump posted on Truth Social on Sunday that he would not allow “potential assassins” to change his schedule and would leave for Milwaukee as previously scheduled.
