Russell Brand talks faith and sobriety journey with Fox News’ Sean Hannity

Comedian, actor and podcast host Russell Brand participated in an in-depth interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on his journey to find faith in Jesus Christ, in a new episode of “Shaun” available on Fox Nation.

in First installments In a two-part interview, the brand opened up about dabbling in recreational medications as a young teenager before moving on to hard drugs like crack cocaine and heroin.

After 22 years of drinking, the brand said that to overcome addiction, it is necessary to find a higher purpose and faith.

“You can become obsessed with anything and become addicted…unless your personal identity is given to a higher purpose, and most obviously, especially to Christ Jesus,” he said, adding that others may find their meaning in other faiths.

He told Hannity that he was arrested dozens of times amid the pain of his addiction and over time his drug habits have become less fulfilling.

“As I say to John, there is only one bread that fills you,” he said.

The actor explains the fear that comes with removing addiction from his life, and says he is still going to treat him to make sure he remains clean.

His conversion to Christianity about a year ago helped clarify and solidify his understanding of drinking, but the brand still recognizes the “vulnerability” of his drinking.

“The struggle with addiction is at the forefront of my life and is constantly happening,” he told Hannity.

“Now since becoming a Christian, I recognize that many of the principles that have been made clear to me in a 12-stage recovery will reach a kind of fulfillment, continuity, promotion of what I am already experiencing,” he said. “I told myself, this is what you're looking for. This is the direction you'll continue.”

Brand announced last May that he became a Christian and had previously been baptized.
