Russell Wilson has found a new home.
The quarterback plans to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported late Sunday night.
The deal will be a “team-friendly” one-year deal, according to the report, and the Broncos, who announced plans to waive Wilson last week, will pay $38 million of Wilson’s salary while he plays in Pittsburgh. That’s what it means.
Wilson met with the Steelers on Friday, which included a stop in New Jersey to talk with the Giants last Thursday, but Wilson has missed two years in the Mile High City. After being fired by Denver, he began making plans for his future.
The decision to sign with the Steelers gives Pittsburgh a veteran option to compete with Kenny Pickett next season and a chance for a fresh start to prove he can be an effective option for the team.
This is a developing story.
