Russia targets cities across Ukraine after Zelensky remarks at UN

On Thursday, Russian missiles and artillery targeted cities across Ukraine. The move came days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed the United Nations.

Amid the attack, air raid sirens were heard in cities across Ukraine from east to west.

According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, overnight airstrikes by Russian forces on a dormitory in the southern city of Kherson killed three people and injured four others. I wrote it in X’s post, formerly known as Twitter. Later that morning, the Ministry of Defense announced that an 81-year-old woman was killed when a Russian projectile struck her apartment.

Seven people were injured in the missile attack in Kiev, three of whom were taken to a hospital in the city, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. Said in a Telegram post.

Klitschko said some buildings in the city were also damaged, including a vocational-technical school dormitory in the Dalnitsky district. In Shevchenkivsky district, a 16-year-old girl was hospitalized, Klitschko said.

The Ukrainian Air Force claimed to have intercepted 36 of 43 cruise missiles inside Ukraine. Associated Press (AP) reported that Kharkov was attacked by S-300 missiles.

In the Slovitsky district of Kharkiv, regional governor Oleh Sinievov Said At least six airstrikes damaged civilian infrastructure and sent two people to hospital.

The series of attacks came shortly after President Zelenskyy addressed the General Assembly on Tuesday, in which he urged United Nations member states to join Ukraine’s fight against Russian President Vladimir Putin and said he would next attack the Kremlin. He warned them that war was coming for them.

Zelenskiy is scheduled to meet with President Biden at the White House on Thursday as the Biden administration pushes for more funding to battleground countries. Biden vowed that the United States would work with Kiev “for as long as necessary” to help it win its fight against Russia.

Zelensky’s visit to the White House will be his second in the past year, having traveled to Washington last December to meet with Biden and address a joint session of the House and Senate.
