Ukrainian forces attack Belgorod region in southern Russia, six killed Authorities said on Friday that they had been hit by Ukrainian artillery fire. On the ground in Ukraine, Russian airstrikes killed one person and wounded at least four in the northern Sumy region. Local military officials announced the attack on Friday. They said in a Telegram message that it hit the town of Shoshka, about 45 kilometers (28 miles) from the Russian border, but did not provide details of the damage. The attack came as Kiev and Moscow carried out dozens of drone and missile strikes from Thursday night into Friday.

Ukrainian forces attack Belgorod region in southern Russia, six killed Authorities said on Friday that they had been hit by Ukrainian artillery fire. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said four bodies had been recovered from the rubble of a multi-story apartment building shelled by Ukrainian forces in the border town of Shevekino, adding that 50 percent of the rubble had been removed by midnight.
