Russia has developed and deployed a new camouflage technology for its military that many are calling an “invisibility cloak,” local news reported.
“This new ‘manto nevidymka’ is a Russian, and formerly Soviet, ‘maskilovka’ (literally translated as ‘disguise’, but conceptually the etymology is ‘masquerade’). It’s part of the doctrine, it’s a fundamental principle of the Russian military,” Rebecca Koffler, a strategic military intelligence analyst and author of Putin’s Handbook, told FOX News Digital.
“The aim is to deceive the enemy about all his actions; to mislead the enemy about the presence, location and size of the armed forces, the timing and location of attacks, and to make it impossible to distinguish between types of military equipment.” Koffler said.
“They are focused on controlling and manipulating the enemy’s perception of what is happening on the battlefield,” she continued. “The Russians are spending huge resources on carrying out the ‘Maskirovka’ operation. True, they may not have designed adequate military uniforms to keep the soldiers warm, but the ‘Mantnevidimka’ ‘I would spend money on that.’

Koffler provided technical details to Fox News Digital, noting that all such information comes from Russian sources such as TV’s Zvezda and Military Review.

“The material itself has three layers: the first is an inner layer that reflects infrared (IR) radiation from the user’s body, the second is an intermediate layer that absorbs IR radiation, and the second is an intermediate layer that reflects IR radiation from the external environment. It’s the outer layer,” Koffler explained. “Cloak-Nevidimka was created at the RKhBZ Academy, which stands for Radiological Chemical Biological Defense.”
“There’s a reason why the Russians want us to know they’ve got this,” Koffler stressed. “It’s not like they’re lying.”
