Ryan Clark wildly likens Dak Prescott’s situation to ‘The Bachelorette’

Jerry Jones isn’t ready to give Dak Prescott his final rose.

The Cowboys are holding off on an extension with their star quarterback who is in the final year of his contract, a move that has perplexed many around the league, with ESPN’s Ryan Clark reporting on the situation on ABC’s Reality. I liken it to the show series “The Bachelorette” after a long bonding in a wild take.

“When you’re in an organization, you can play on the field at the quarterback position,” Clark began on Wednesday’s “Get Up,” adding, “It’s like one guy.” If you’re going to college, you can date whoever you want and have fun. However, at some point he will decide that he wants a wife. And the Bible says that whoever finds a wife finds a good one, and it’s the same in football. Whoever finds a quarterback finds a good one. ”

“So when you get that quarterback and you lock down that marriage and it’s your partner, you never sit at home and one day say to him or her, ‘You can be on The Bachelorette. ‘I don’t love you enough to lock you up…’ Jerry Jones said, Duck, next year we’ll have you on The Bachelorette. ”

“The Bachelorette” sees female stars date several suitors and narrow it down to one, who usually receives a final rose in the season finale after a proposal. “The Bachelor” chronicles male leads going through a similar process to eligible women.

Prescott’s relationship with the Cowboys began in 2016, when he was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft and later named the starting quarterback. He signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension in 2021.

However It was reported in December The two sides are expected to work out the details of a long-term extension during the offseason. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports. On Tuesday, the team and 30-year-old Prescott announced that they “have a mutual understanding that there will be no adjustments to his contract entering the 2024 season.”

The decision comes two months after the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs again early, and Prescott could hit the open market if both teams decide it’s best to proceed.

“When you look at this team, what we’re saying is, if we’re going to keep this team, we’ve got to go out there, play a certain way, win a certain number of games, get to a certain point. Not only that, but we’re also going to give you the tools you need to do that. We are essentially giving you a job. We’re giving you a job that we haven’t trained you to do,” Clark continued.

“So what does that say? We’re going to be nearing the end of the season, and Dak Prescott is going somewhere else.”

Prescott isn’t the only member of the Cowboys who has a big year ahead of them.

Head coach Mike McCarthy returns for a fifth year and will continue to coach through the 2024 season under an expiring contract.
