Ryan Garcia’s boxing career has taken another major hit.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman announced on Thursday that the 25-year-old boxer had been expelled from the organization after he appeared to use the N-word and make abusive remarks that referenced the Ku Klux Klan.
“I am exercising my authority as WBC President to ban Ryan Garcia from all activities with our organization,” Sulaiman wrote to X. “We reject discrimination of any kind. Ryan has repeatedly declined our assistance with his mental health and substance abuse issues and we are concerned about his well-being.”
The announcement was made by Garcia He allegedly used the N-word He also claimed to be a “KKK” during a racist conversation on X-Space that included multiple exchanges of views and a discussion of George Floyd, who was killed by Minneapolis police in 2020.
Garcia had posted about X being “trolled” before his account was suspended, but it’s unclear if he was referring to the conversations in Spaces.
“Also, I was trolling. I hope all the killing stops. Humanity needs to stop killing people. I love you all. Sorry if I caused any offense,” he wrote in one post.
“You guys have to understand the pain, the deep pain I feel every race. Hey I’m hurting. I love you guys. Have a great day,” he added in another comment.
It’s been a tumultuous year for the controversial boxer, who defeated WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney at Barclays Center in April.

The June bout was declared a no contest after Garcia was suspended for one year by the New York State Athletic Commission for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, which emerged after the fight.
He was also fined $10,000 by the NYSAC.
