Ryan Lochte has shown off his progress in his recovery after revealing he was in a near-fatal car accident 10 months ago.
The 40-year-old former Olympic swimmer and his wife, Kayla Rae Reid, shared a video on Instagram on Wednesday shedding light on her husband's recovery process, with his wife offering encouragement and praise for his efforts to get better.
“Life's setbacks may knock you down, but they also set the stage for an even stronger comeback!” Reed, 33 she captioned the reel. “This guy has literally worked hard every step of the way!”
The video shows Lochte being carried home in a wheelchair by his 7-year-old son, Kayden Zane, and then moving around his hospital room with the aid of a walker as he continues to relearn how to walk after a leg injury.

Lochte said he was on his way to pick up his children from school when he accidentally hit a garbage truck parked in the middle of a busy road.
When friends and other parents witnessed the incident, many of them “tried to come and help me,” he said.
“They said, 'He's dead. He's not breathing. He was dead.' There was blood spurting out of my head. I still have some stitches there. My femur was broken. Completely snapped in half. My car was totaled.”
“I still have nightmares,” added Lochte, who is also father to 1-year-old Georgia June and 5-year-old Liv Rae.
“I still get scared when I go to my car to go to my physical therapy session. I can't get the image of the accident out of my head. I can't get the image of white lights flashing in my eyes out of my head.”
An emotional Lochte added: “Life can end in an instant and I'm just so grateful that no one else was hurt.”
