The well-known television host, Ryan Seacrest, has shared that he had to miss the much-talked-about wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce because of scheduling conflicts. He expressed his disappointment, mentioning he “had no choice” but to cancel his plans.
During a recent broadcast, Seacrest explained, “I wanted to attend, but Disney scheduled me for a special on the 3rd and 4th of July.” So, it was not something he could work around. His co-hosts were taken aback when they learned he had received an invitation. One even quipped that it was a “waste of an invitation.”
Seacrest swiftly defended himself, saying he was genuinely excited about the event. “I was really looking forward to it,” he noted, highlighting how challenging it was to balance his work responsibilities with the wedding. Despite wanting to attend, the timing simply didn’t work out, as the wedding ceremony was in the afternoon, and his show was also set to start on that day.
He described trying to plan for both events but ultimately decided it wasn’t feasible. “I had checked the schedule,” Seacrest emphasized. “I couldn’t make it happen.” He mentioned that he even had a detailed plan laid out before resigning to the fact that he wouldn’t be able to go.
Seacrest recalled a conversation he had with Swift at a dinner after he had already accepted the invitation. It was slightly ironic; they spoke excitedly about the upcoming “event,” referring to the wedding in a way that didn’t give anything away. “I was thrilled, and she mentioned how much fun it would be—a real celebration,” he said, reflecting on the conversation with fondness.
Looking back, he feels he approached it earnestly. “I had confirmed my attendance, met them shortly after—then we had to cancel, which was just unfortunate.”
Swift and Kelce tied the knot on July 3 at Madison Square Garden, with about 1,000 guests in attendance. They decided to forgo a traditional wedding party, choosing instead to have Swift’s brother as her “person of honor” and Kelce’s brother as his best man.
Swift’s representation indicated that the wedding attire was crafted by Jonathan Anderson of Christian Dior Haute Couture, and she adorned Cartier jewelry. Their relationship, which has often been kept private, seems to have blossomed more quietly before they were last seen together publicly in September.
It was revealed that the couple’s romance began earlier, even before they were spotted at a football game. Swift recounted in an interview how Travis’ charm on his podcast had initially attracted her, leading them to spend significant time together incognito before their relationship became public.
