Tragic Boating Accident Claims Young Siblings’ Lives

Heart-wrenching images have surfaced of young siblings who lost their lives in a boating mishap at the Jersey Shore last weekend, highlighting the joyful times spent on the water with their parents over the years.

Mya Golabek, 9, and her brother Sigmund Golabek, 7, were captured smiling in life jackets and swimsuits aboard a boat with their parents, Sigmund and Jennifer Golabek, just a few years back when the children were still quite small. This nostalgic moment was shared on Facebook by their father.

In one touching photo, the family appears joyful, posing together by the water, embracing life in that moment. The loving parents are seen hugging their children, radiating happiness.

Tragically, the family’s 30-foot boat collided with a channel marker in Barnegat Bay Sunday evening, resulting in the children being thrown into the water, where they were later found unresponsive, as stated by authorities. This incident resulted in the untimely death of their older sister and younger brother.

Authorities mentioned that the children’s grandfather, Steven Scheider, 63, was at the helm of the boat while their grandmother, Laurie Schneider, 64, discovered the children. Unfortunately, they were pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Plans for the children’s funeral services are set for Friday in Forked River, New Jersey.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no charges have been filed as of now. Berkeley City Councilman James Burns reported that the channel marker was in full operation with its lights on when the collision happened around 9 p.m.
