Sadie Robertson Huff Shares Chilling Experience After Daughter’s Choking Incident
Sadie Robertson Huff, known from “Duck Dynasty,” expressed her gratitude on Instagram after her eight-month-old daughter, Kit Carroway, survived a frightening choking episode at home.
On April 12, she posted about the incident, saying, “This is a vulnerable post here 🩷, and it feels hard to talk about, especially on social media, but I think it’s worth sharing. I believe awareness can save lives…” Huff began her message.
She described the mixed emotions she felt, walking through anxiety from the trauma while also feeling deep thankfulness for Kit’s miraculous recovery and for what she perceived as God’s intervention during the crisis.
Huff detailed how an ordinary day quickly turned dangerous. “Kit was sitting in her high chair, eating, while I was preparing dinner when she started to choke,” she recalled, noting how swiftly the severity of the situation became apparent. Her mother rushed over, lifting Kit from the high chair just as she stopped breathing.
“Everyone sprang into action, praying. Mom called 911; I began CPR, and everyone else started praying and moving the other kids downstairs,” she continued.
Huff shared her tendency to be well-prepared for emergencies, saying she had previously watched instructional videos that became invaluable in that moment of panic.
“It felt like my body automatically knew what to do. I sensed God guiding me, working with what I had learned. I remember asking, ‘What do I do?’ and then just started acting and declaring life,” she wrote.
“After following the guidelines for infant choking and performing CPR, Kit miraculously coughed and began breathing as the paramedics arrived… it was truly terrifying, but a testament to faith,” she explained.
While in the ambulance with Kit, Huff admitted she was still scared but filled with praise for God.
Her husband, Christian, followed the ambulance to be by their side and later mentioned that “there was a rainbow over the ambulance the whole way there.”
Kit spent the night in the hospital for observation but was released the next day, and Huff reported that she was “perfectly healthy, happy, and brightening everyone’s day!”
She emphasized how quickly the incident escalated and urged her followers to learn vital life-saving techniques.
“We understand that our children are in God’s hands—we can’t control their breath, nor our own. We shouldn’t live in fear; we must trust God,” she noted.
“Also, being prepared and knowledgeable, spiritually and physically, is a valuable gift for you and your family! Please join us in expressing gratitude for this miracle!”
