Sage Steele criticizes ex-ESPN coworker as ‘classless’ for comments about Robert Griffin III’s wife

Ryan Clark and Sage Steele’s Ongoing Dispute

It’s fairly well-known that Ryan Clark and Sage Steele, former colleagues at ESPN, aren’t exactly close. However, Steele made some particularly harsh remarks about Clark recently.

During his latest podcast episode, Clark stated that Robert Griffin III “is not having a conversation at home about what black women have to endure in this country.” This comment came after a weekend incident involving Angel Reese and Kate Linklark.

Clark described figures like Dave Portnoy and Keith Olbermann as commentators who aim to paint Reese as a “villain” while elevating Clark to a hero status.

Steele responded to Clark’s remarks, calling them “classless, divisive, awful, [and] unnecessary.” She expressed disappointment, suggesting that such comments are to be expected from him—essentially, she described it as shameful.

In turn, Griffin criticized Clark’s statements, questioning, “How low is he?”

The two have a history of conflict. Clark has previously remarked that while Steele is comfortable being a conservative, her past comments about Barack Obama felt off to him. He has even suggested that she be replaced as a host on an ESPN segment.

Steele has taken legal action against ESPN, claiming that Clark refused to collaborate with her due to her political opinions. In the backdrop of their disagreements, Steele once described Obama’s identification as “black” as “attractive.”

Clark mentioned that chemistry is crucial in television, noting he wanted to maintain a comfortable atmosphere during their segments. For him, it was vital that any discomfort he felt didn’t come across on screen.

He said that while it was a one-time issue with Steele, she managed to work sincerely until her departure from ESPN, and they haven’t communicated since.

Meanwhile, in a separate basketball moment, Caitlyn Clark committed what was described as a controversial foul, which she later defended as a “good take foul,” a point Reese also later acknowledged.

In a recent game, Kate Linklark’s Indiana Fever convincingly defeated Reese’s Chicago Sky, with a score of 93-58.
