Chase Young Shines in Saints’ Match Against Titans
Chase Young, the defensive end for the New Orleans Saints, had an impressive outing on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
In the second quarter, Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward attempted to pass but was quickly pressured by the Saints’ defense. As he tried to evade one defender, he overlooked Young, who was right behind him.
Young managed to take the ball away from Ward, sprinting to the end zone and scoring a touchdown that cut the Titans’ lead to 13-10.
Young, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, is set to join the Saints for the 2023 season. Interestingly, he had only previously scored a fumble return touchdown during his rookie year with the Washington Commanders, where he earned the Defensive Rookie of the Year title.
During the game, he made a notable impact with seven sacks, three pass breakups, and 28 tackles.
Unfortunately, the Saints’ defense didn’t maintain the momentum. The only highlight came from Young’s performance, as the team went into halftime trailing 20-10 after Ward connected with Eric Ayomanor for a touchdown just before the break.
New Orleans has faced difficulties this season, yet their defense was expected to be a strength. They entered this game ranked 8th in yards allowed and 14th in points allowed, which makes the current performance all the more puzzling.
So far, that anticipated defensive prowess has been missing in Nashville.
