A number of coaches are expected to be fired Monday, but New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen is not expected to be one of them ahead of Sunday's final regular-season game. According to Pro Football Talk.
Allen has one more game left to coach, Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, and the Saints enter the game with an 8-8 record and still have a chance to make the postseason.
Regardless of the outcome of Sunday's game, the Saints could have Allen in charge and quarterback Derek Carr back under center.
New Orleans started Sunday outside of the playoffs despite having the same record as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a likely tiebreaker with the Saints to win the NFC South.
However, if New Orleans wins against the Falcons and the Buccaneers lose to the Carolina Panthers, the Saints will secure a spot in the NFL playoffs.
Allen, 51, is in his second year as head coach in New Orleans.
The Saints went 7-10 in his first season.
He also served as the head coach of the then-Oakland Raiders for two seasons from 2012 to 2014.
Carr, who turns 33 in March, is in his first year with the Saints, having had his nine-year tenure with the Raiders unceremoniously ended last year.
