Saints respond to ESPN personality's criticism of Drew Brees

Ryan Clark’s Bold Take on NFL Quarterbacks

In a recent discussion on whether Arch Manning qualifies as a generational talent, ESPN analyst Ryan Clark made some striking remarks about several prominent NFL quarterbacks.

During a Thursday appearance, Clark stated that he doesn’t see Tom Brady, Drew Brees, or Peyton Manning as generational talents. Instead, he pointed to John Elway and Patrick Mahomes as examples of true generational players. Additionally, he mentioned Andrew Luck, suggesting he has also reached that level of talent.

“I don’t think there are many who fit that description,” Clark added.

In response, the New Orleans Saints took a shot at Clark’s claims. They quote-tweeted a clip from his comments, showcasing screenshots that highlighted Brady, Brees, and Manning as the top three quarterbacks in NFL history for both passing yards and touchdowns.

To put things in perspective, Brady holds the record for most career passing yards (89,214) and touchdowns (649). Brees follows closely with impressive stats of 80,358 yards and 571 touchdowns, while Manning ranks third with a total of 71,940 yards and 539 touchdowns.

Brady’s accolades include seven Super Bowl championships and three MVP awards, making him a standout figure in sports history. Brees, on the other hand, is not only a Super Bowl champion but has also earned the Super Bowl MVP title, becoming a 13-time Pro Bowler over a stellar 20-season career.

Peyton Manning, already enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, stands out with two Super Bowl victories, five MVP awards, and numerous Pro Bowl selections.

Interestingly, Clark has gone head-to-head with all three quarterbacks during his 13-year NFL career, yet he still holds a different view on their status as generational talents.
