Katie Hoefnagle, Sam Darnold’s fiancée, expressed her admiration for the Seahawks quarterback after he threw three touchdowns in their thrilling 31-27 victory over the Rams during the NFC Championship Game.
She shared a clip on her Instagram Story showcasing Darnold proudly holding the conference championship trophy.
“LFG14!” she exclaimed.
Another image captured a tender moment between the couple on the sidelines.
Following the win, Darnold and Hoefnagle shared a kiss on the field. The pair, who got engaged last July in a joint Instagram post, celebrated the victory together. Darnold had proposed by the ocean in Dana Point, California.
Darnold played exceptionally well in front of the Seattle fans at Lumen Field. He completed 25 of 36 passes for 346 yards without throwing any interceptions, leading the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl appearance since 2014.
“You can’t discuss the game without mentioning our quarterback,” said Mike McDonald, Seattle’s second-year head coach. “He really silenced a lot of critics tonight, and I’m thrilled for him.”
It’s been a remarkable comeback story for Darnold. After being drafted third overall by the Jets in 2018, he was traded to the Panthers because they lost faith in him. Then the Vikings didn’t retain him for the 2024 season after a solid 14-3 record and a playoff exit against the Rams.
In the offseason, Darnold signed a three-year, $105 million deal with the Seahawks.
In the AFC Championship Game, the New England Patriots managed to defeat the Denver Broncos 10-7.
Looking ahead, the Super Bowl featuring the Seahawks and the Patriots is set for February 8th in Santa Clara.
