Sam Darnold looks ‘better’ than he did with Jets: Sauce Gardner

LONDON — For Jets fans, watching Sam Darnold play quarterback for the Vikings on Sunday may bring back some memories.

For Source Gardner, he wanted to see what Darnold would look like in a Jets uniform.

Gardner came to the Jets a year after Darnold was traded, but in preparation for playing against him this week, the Jets cornerbacks will be playing film from Darnold's time with the Jets from 2018-20. I was watching.

“When he was with the Jets, I was watching some of his film and he looked different, you know what I'm saying?” Gardner said.

Yes, Source, Jets fans know what you're talking about.

Darnold is off to a great start in his first season in Minnesota.

He led the league in touchdowns with 11 and led the Vikings to a 4-0 start.

“He definitely looked better and different than he did based on the movies I saw when he was a Jet,” Gardner said.

Gardner said he doesn't usually go that far back when researching quarterbacks, but he's interested in Darnold.

“I was just trying to see what he was like back then, because I'd always heard those names, but I'd never actually seen them,” Gardner said. “Then you look at it and you think, 'This doesn't look the same,' right?”

Gardner noted that having a strong supporting cast around him certainly helps Darnold.

“He seems very confident,” Gardner said. “You know, he's had great receivers around him. That makes his job easier, and he throws pretty well. He's got a big arm.”

This was Gardner's first time outside the United States.

He got scared while boarding a bus from London's airport.

“I caught the bus earlier today,” Gardner said. “Well, it seems like they drive on the other side of the road here. From the moment I got on the bus, I thought I was going to get into an accident. So I was a little disappointed.”

LB CJ Mosley (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday, and coach Robert Saleh said it would be “unreasonable” to expect him to play.

DT Leki Fotu (hamstring) is also listed as questionable. Fotu remains on injured reserve but began practicing this week.

The Saints signed C Connor McGovern from the Jets' practice squad.
