Sam Haskell Jr. Found Dead in Jail Before Preliminary Hearing
Sam Haskell Jr., the son of well-known Hollywood agent Sam Haskell, was found dead in a jail cell on Saturday, with reports suggesting it was a suicide. This tragic event occurred just days before his preliminary hearing regarding serious charges of murdering and dismembering his wife.
Law enforcement confirmed that Haskell passed away while in custody at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. According to reports from TMZ, he reportedly took his own life by cutting his wrists, although officials have not publicly confirmed the cause of death.
Haskell had pleaded not guilty to the accusations of killing his wife, Mei Li Haskell, along with her parents, Gaoshan Li and Yanxiang Wang, back in 2023. It was alleged that he dismembered their bodies, placed them in trash bags, and hired day laborers to discard the remains.
Those laborers became suspicious when Haskell told them the bags contained rocks, yet they felt “squishy.” One worker looked inside and found human remains. Shocked, they returned the bags to Haskell’s home, gave him his money back, and left. One of them later called 911 to report the grim discovery.
Surveillance footage showed Haskell loading the bags into his car and later disposing of something in a dumpster a few miles away. A homeless individual rummaging through the trash found a woman’s torso in one of the bags and alerted authorities. Haskell was arrested soon after and faced three murder charges.
According to the L.A. County Coroner, the torso was identified as belonging to Mei Li Haskell. The remains of her parents, however, have never been located. It was reported that Haskell and his wife lived with her parents and their three children, and they were experiencing financial difficulties at the time of the alleged murders.
