Samaritan's Purse, a Christian humanitarian aid organization, has expanded its relief efforts to hard-hit areas in western North Carolina with three water filtration systems.
This water filter can provide 10,000 people or up to 50,000 liters of clean water every day. Samaritan's Purse worked with an in-house team of engineers to design the filtration system.

One of the locations where water filters are deployed, Swannanoa, had its water pipe network completely destroyed during Hurricane Helen.
“We've designed these systems for use overseas and they've worked very well, but now we need them in our own backyards,” said Rev. Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse. said in a release.

“We fly supplies in, we muddy homes, we cut down trees, and so much more, all in the name of Jesus. And we help make it possible. We want to remind each and every one of you that God is here to help you, love you, care for you, and remember you.'' added.

Samaritan's Purse, based in Boone, North Carolina, has also conducted 19 helicopter operations to deliver emergency relief supplies to areas in need. During Hurricane Helen, many communities in North Carolina were cut off from the road system.

Food, water, infant hygiene kits and medical supplies were also airlifted by Samaritan's Purse to some of the most isolated affected areas. The organization operates a 20-bed emergency field hospital in Avery County for those hardest hit by Hurricane Helen and continues to provide oxygen care to those without electricity.

In addition to basic supplies, nearly 3,000 volunteers answered Samaritan's Purse's call to help more than 140 families in North Carolina. Volunteers cut down fallen trees, removed storm debris and filled flooded homes with mud.
Samaritan's Purse also dispatched disaster relief forces to communities in Georgia and Florida affected by Hurricane Helen.
