San Antonio Socialists Take to the Streets for Another 'No Kings' Rally

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Thousands Gather Near the Alamo for “No King” Rallies

A large crowd assembled in downtown San Antonio, close to the historic Alamo, as part of the ongoing “No King” demonstrations. This event is one of many held across the nation.

During the rally on Saturday, attendees listened to multiple speakers who criticized President Trump, labeling him a dictator. They shouted anti-ICE slogans and condemned both U.S. and Israeli military actions in Iran. Observers noted that demonstrators chanted for hours before embarking on a march, led by members of the San Antonio Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) among other groups. Many participants carried signs—some featured explicit language aimed at recent Iranian military actions, while others demanded the total dissolution of ICE.

Various organizations, including the PSL, Democratic Socialist Party, Planned Parenthood, and the Bexar County Democratic Party, were part of the protest. Some groups set up booths selling merchandise and distributing political paraphernalia supporting U.S. Sen. James Talarico, who is campaigning against Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas).

Unique costumes were a theme at the rally, with some individuals wearing inflatable outfits or painting their faces as clowns. At least one child was seen carrying a provocative sign regarding ICE.

A booth at the event displayed Palestinian keffiyeh scarves while criticizing Israel’s military actions against Hamas and Hezbollah since October 7.

Speakers at the protest focused mainly on calls to defund and dismantle ICE, as well as to halt the U.S.-Israeli military offensive known as “Operation Epic Fury.” Afterward, demonstrators marched peacefully through downtown San Antonio, accompanied by police, engaging in chants led by organizers.

Interestingly, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the union representing Border Patrol agents, is listed as an ally of the “No King” rally. While many Border Patrol processing coordinators and military civilians are facing unpaid leave, their parent unions are organizing marches echoing phrases like “F%*& The Migra!”

The march proceeded without incident through the downtown area, with onlookers, including tourists and drivers, observing the event. There were no reported arrests or any situations that required police intervention.
