San Diego Padres pitcher Cole Paprahm was on the receiver of a 102 mph line drive on Sunday in a spring training game with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The incident occurred at the bottom of eight innings. Paprahm threw the pitch to Dodgers infielder Aaron Bracho on a 2-0 count. Bracho returned the pitch directly to Papraham. He walked down for a few minutes before he took off the field to the golf cart.

Padres manager Mike Schilt said Paprahm was “warned” as he tried to shake off the horrifying incident.
“Our prayers are with him,” Schilt said. Via MLB.com. “He seemed conscious and wary, he knew where he was. But it was obviously scary… he was clearly feeling some kind of pain. That's obviously what happened. I was rattled a bit when it happened.”
Papraham has been involved in the Padres minor league system since 2023. He played college ball at New Orleans University and then joined the MLB Draft League for Mahoning Barrace Clapper.

He moved from Single A to Double A level in Minor League Baseball. He won 3.82 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 2024 in eight appearances.
The Papraham incident comes days after Dodgers pitcher Bobby Miller was hit in the face on a line drive.

Miller is still undergoing concussion protocols as he is recovering from the incident.
