San Diego Padres season concludes poorly after offense fails against Milwaukee Brewers.

Padres’ Season Ends with Loss to Brewers

Well, that’s it for the Padres. San Diego’s season ended abruptly on Wednesday night as the Milwaukee Brewers clinched their victory at Petco Park. Game 3 had sparked a bit of hope, but ultimately, the Padres’ offense fell flat when it counted the most, resulting in a 3-1 defeat in Game 4.

With this outcome, Milwaukee advances to face the Dodgers in the NLCS, following Los Angeles’ earlier elimination of the Braves, while the Padres are left with only their couches to keep them company.

The Padres had a promising start, loading the bases with two outs in the first inning, but Xander Bogaerts popped out, leaving everyone stranded. That missed opportunity stung two innings later, as Garrett Mitchell delivered an RBI single against Walker Buehler, putting Milwaukee in the lead.

Fernando Tatis Jr. briefly ignited the team’s spirit in the third inning with a spectacular solo home run off Robert Gasser that tied the game at 1-1.

Interestingly, that swing turned out to be the last highlight of the night for San Diego as their offense went completely silent for the remaining six innings.

In the fifth inning, Jackson Chourio hit a two-out RBI single, followed by a sacrifice fly from Sal Frelick in the sixth that extended the Brewers’ lead to 3-1. Meanwhile, Brewers reliever Aaron Ashby dominated with three hitless innings, suffocating any hope the Padres had left.

The pivotal moment came in the eighth inning. With a runner on base, Manny Machado sent a powerful shot to deep center field, which had Petco Park buzzing with excitement. It looked like it could be a game-tying two-run homer. However, Garrett Mitchell made an incredible play, leaping at the wall and robbing Machado of a potential game-changer.

Trevor Megill then closed the game in the ninth, striking out the side and securing the 3-1 victory for Milwaukee, thus sending them to the NLCS.

Time to think about those tee times, gentlemen.
