Exciting News for Padres Fans
This Thursday morning brought great joy to one of baseball’s most enthusiastic fanbases.
The MLB and the Padres have introduced the City Connect jerseys for San Diego, set to debut in the 2026 season. These jerseys showcase a vibrant color scheme that reflects the diverse cultural backgrounds found in Southern California and Mexico.
The slogan for this new uniform is “Two countries. Two cultures. One.”
The design features a white cap with a navy blue tag, adorned with the traditional “SD” insignia in orange and navy blue. The jersey itself is navy blue, complemented by a trim inspired by the traditional Día de los Muertos celebrations, while the pants are white with an orange stripe running from the hips to the ankles.
The Padres have outlined six unique elements that define the City Connect uniform.
This latest jersey represents a noticeable shift from previous designs.
While the former version was bright and energetic, celebrating San Diego’s stunning coastal scenery, the new look draws inspiration from the team’s rich history and honors its legendary players.
Recently, several Padres icons have passed away, including Tony Gwynn, Ken Caminiti, Randy Jones, and team owner Peter Seidler.
Gwynn, often referred to as “Mr. Padre,” is celebrated as the team’s greatest player, having spent 20 seasons with them. He boasted an impressive .338 lifetime batting average, secured eight National League batting titles, and made two World Series appearances. Sadly, he died on June 16, 2014, at age 54 after a battle with cancer.
According to the Padres, the new City Connect uniform features six distinctive characteristics.
Sleeve Patch
Día de los Muertos is about remembrance and celebration. To honor this tradition, the Padres have included the La Catrina patch to commemorate loved ones. The patch showcases a figure with a floral crown, surrounded by ofrenda candles, set against the soothing backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.
Wordmark
The refresh of the wordmark symbolizes the ongoing celebration of our binational region, drawing inspiration from the coastline, breathtaking sunsets, and active lifestyle.
Cap
The cap features a bone crown, an obsidian beak, and a floral interior, paying tribute to the rich history of the Padres and a legend who left us too soon.
Trim and Blade
A marigold pattern decorates the sleeve trim and bone-colored pant braid, representing the essence of Día de los Muertos—joy and the beauty of life.
Color
The uniform unites colors that reflect the vibrant landscape, rich culture, history, and heritage: Bone, Obsidian, Marigold, Aqua, Fireberry, and Padres Gold.
Jock Tag
Papel Picado highlights the history of the Padres franchise and the region, incorporating past logos that honor the team, its players, and dedicated fans.
Fans eager to own the City Connect jersey can find purchasing options available.
