Masked motorcyclists have been caught on video doing doughnuts and wheelies around traffic officers in tourist areas, and the Police Association says that if there were enough officers in police stations the motorcyclists would be held accountable for their actions.
Sunny Iqbal shot the video on August 4 at the intersection with Lombard Street. San Francisco trip, It is one of the Golden City’s most famous attractions.
“I think there were more than 15 actual bikers,” Iqbal said. Local TV station KGO. “The bikers were coming down the hill, honking their horns. Then I saw one, two, three bikers start going around the officers. They were doing wheelies, burning tyres.”
According to the videographer, the bikers – some on dirt bikes, some on motorcycles and some on ATVs – were “visibly antagonizing” San Francisco Police Department traffic officers wearing yellow vests who were watching the situation.

As tourists looked on in amazement, Iqbal said no additional police officers showed up and no one was arrested.
“These are nothing more than a group of thugs on bicycles,” the San Francisco Police Association said in a statement to KGO. “They knowingly endanger the lives and safety of innocent motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.”

The police union statement continues, “The challenge with a shortage of more than 600 officers is that there are not enough officers on shift to immediately respond in the numbers needed to safely contain large groups of people behaving aggressively toward both bystanders and responding officers. If there were the necessary number of officers, we would be seeing many more bullies in handcuffs.”
As for bikers, some told KGO they’ve been seen in other tourist areas without helmets and wearing masks.
