Sanctuary CA Gave License to Illegal Accused of Killing Melody Waldecker

The sanctuary state of California has issued a driver’s license to an illegal immigrant who is now accused of stealing and killing Melody Waldecker, a 54-year-old mother of four and eight grandchildren, in Loudoun County, Virginia.

As Breitbart News reported, Jose Aguilar Martinez, a 21-year-old illegal immigrant from El Salvador, was arrested by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony autojacking in connection with the death of Melody Waldecker of Montgomery County, Maryland.

Loudoun County Sheriff Michael Chapman reveal Aguilar-Martinez was issued a driver’s license by the sanctuary state of California.

Since 2015, California has issued driver’s licenses to more than one million undocumented immigrants to protect them from being pulled over by police and taken to court by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“This is a horrific tragedy and we mourn the death of Melody Waldecker as a result of the heinous acts of an individual who allegedly entered our country illegally,” Chapman said in a statement. “This is another reminder of why it is essential that local governments work collaboratively with their federal counterparts responsible for enforcing our nation’s immigration laws.”

Chapman said ICE agents have issued detention orders for about 500 illegal immigrants in Loudoun County custody starting in fiscal years 2023 and 2024. During that time, ICE has detained about 250 of those illegal immigrants, and about 100 have been deported so far.

On July 28, Waldecker stopped by a 7-Eleven in Sterling, Virginia, around 11:30 a.m. after visiting her sick mother.

While walking to the 7-Eleven, Waldecker noticed a man, whom police identified as Aguilar-Martinez, attempting to break into a parked car. When Waldecker tried to stop Aguilar-Martinez, police allege the undocumented immigrant struck and killed Waldecker with his car while fleeing the scene.

When officers arrived on scene, Waldecker was found dead, and Aguilar-Martinez was arrested approximately 45 minutes later.

Aguilar-Martinez remains in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bail. ICE agents have issued him a detention order, requesting he be held if released at any time. Agents said additional charges may be filed against Aguilar-Martinez.
