The Honduran immigrant charged with raping a woman on a forest trail in Herndon, Virginia, becomes an example of a state law that endangered a tolerant left-wing sanctuary city and many Americans.
“First of all, I am incredibly saddened and outraged that a crime like this could occur here in the town of Herndon,” said Herndon Police Chief Maggie DeBord. said At a press conference last weekend after the immigration arrest.
Dennis Humberto Navarrette Romero, 31, was arrested and charged with the assault and rape of a woman he allegedly encountered on Nov. 18 on the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad Trail in Herndon. The attack is called Because the attacker and victim did not know each other, it is considered a “stranger rape.”
“In the 12-plus years I've been here as chief, we've never had a rape by a stranger,” Chief DeBord said. “This should be prosecuted in full so that something like this never happens again.”
However, this attack is not surprising. Authorities said they discovered after his arrest that Romero was involved in multiple sexual assaults against juveniles dating back to 2017.
There were other charges as well. Stunned, DeBord was shocked to learn that the suspect was still roaming freely across the United States, even though he had already been charged with two felonies.
“He had two felonies committed in a case that we called, and he was basically sent to investigate a sexual assault case where he caught a woman,” Chief DeBord said. He assaulted two of my police officers. One of them actually grabbed him around the throat and tried to suffocate him. There he was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer, a felony. ”
Mr. DeBord was asked whether Mr. Navarrette-Romero had been convicted of these felony assault charges. “No, because a few months later the incident came down to simple assault, a misdemeanor. I was never asked to provide an opinion on that,” she replied. “As you know, my officers were victims in that incident. We want the victims to have their say on this matter, but we absolutely do not want to reduce it to a misdemeanor. You would not have agreed.”
The police chief also expressed skepticism about Navarrette Romero's deportation following his arrest. “The problem with deporting him at this point is that there's a good chance he'll come back to this country,” she says. “The danger is that if he is not held accountable for his crimes here and is simply deported, we have no way to prevent him from returning.”
How could this have happened? This is because of the “sanctuary'' policy of law enforcement agencies that I previously met.
In response to this recent incident in which an illegal alien seriously injured an American, Andrew R. Arthur, Resident Fellow for Law and Policy at the Center for Immigration Studies, explained:
Why are serious alien criminals who beg for deportation released into society to reoffend? Because local and federal authorities are intervening between criminals and ICE, and ultimately pay the price. Because it is a misguided and ill-advised attempt to “protect” the very victims who will be paying.
To be sure, the cost of Joe Biden's border crisis was high. It seems like not a month goes by without a rape or murder committed by an immigrant who entered this country illegally.
There are many victims across the country. Jocelyn Nangaray, a 12-year-old Houston girl, paid the price with her life. The same fate befell Laken Riley, a 22-year-old from Georgia. Patti Morin of Baltimore also paid the ultimate price. These are just some of the most famous cases. There are many things that have not made national news.
And sexual assault, drug trafficking, robbery, child rape, and human trafficking are occurring at the hands of Biden border crossers, not to mention the criminal activity of dangerous gangs, including Torren de Aragua. The list of other crimes is long and growing. .
All of these cases add up to tens of thousands of cases, and many of the perpetrators are repeat offenders who were previously in the U.S. justice system but were then released back into the country without coordination or cooperation with ICE.
