Sandy Brondello Approaches Milestone in Coaching

Sandy Brondello is close to making history in her coaching career.

The recent victory, 88-77, marked her 100th win with the team, setting a franchise record.

Brondello reached this milestone in her fourth season, compared to Adubato, who achieved it in his sixth.

After the game, Leonie Fevich remarked, “She gets our struggles. You can say she’s a player, and she understands what we go through. She’s approachable, and it helps build a relationship.”

Brondello’s journey hasn’t been all smooth sailing; her first season was quite challenging. Yet, over the past three years, her performance improved significantly, leading the team to the WNBA Finals twice, even clinching the title last season after defeating the Lynx in five games.

“Coaching here is fantastic,” Brondello said. “Getting to 100 wins in just my fourth year shows I have a strong team around me.”

Some players from the Liberty have previously played under her and seemed eager to join her again. Isabel Harrison and Stephanie Talbot, for instance, have also played under Brondello while she was with Mercury and even in international settings.

Brondello is praised not just for her impressive skills as a coach but also for her character off the court. Her ability to connect with players makes a significant difference.

Emma Meesman shared, “I see Sandy as family. Her kids were always around. It’s crucial that a coach shows their personal side, especially when you’re away from home. It fosters trust; you know she has your back. It’s not all business; it’s about being human. She’s definitely building her legacy.”
