Saniyah Hall: A Promising Addition for USC Basketball
Saniyah Hall, the top-ranked girls basketball freshman in the class of 2026, seems like the perfect match for USC.
With a two-finger victory salute, she expresses her excitement about joining the Trojan family—especially her future coaches and teammates.
Beyond her impressive scoring ability and versatility as both a shooting guard and small forward, she seems to have already developed a rivalry with teams from nearby UCLA.
“When I stepped onto campus, you could really feel it—there’s a lot of animosity towards UCLA, and I can’t wait to be a part of that,” Hall shared with enthusiasm.
Looking around the locker room, it’s easy to see why Hall feels at home. She’s not just going to play with elite talent; she’s joining USC’s third No. 1 prospect in four years, and they’ll all be on the court together next season.
Jazzy Davidson will return for his second year, while JuJu Watkins is coming back after recovering from a torn knee ligament sustained during the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
When asked about playing alongside Watkins and Davidson, the 6-foot-1 Hall couldn’t hide her smile.
“What drew me to USC is the opportunity to play with such high-level talent. They both have incredible basketball IQ, and they know what to do while on the court,” she said.
Their roster will also welcome Spanish five-star forward-center Sara Okeke and freshman forward Sitaya Fagan, who joined earlier this year to prepare with the team. Plus, USC recently secured a commitment from Pania Davis, a 6-foot-6 center from Florida State University, which should significantly boost their frontcourt.
“I really think we have the potential to stand out, and once we all get on campus, we feel like we could compete for a national championship,” Hall stated confidently.
However, it raises some eyebrows about how one team could accumulate such talent. Hall commended USC’s coach, Lindsey Gottlieb, for an approach that went beyond traditional recruiting tactics.
“It’s not just about basketball here; it’s about succeeding on and off the court,” Hall emphasized.
A native of Ohio, Hall was in Southern California for the Jordan Brand Classic at El Camino College in Torrance. She’s no stranger to these big games, playing alongside Davidson and returning USC guard Kennedy Smith on the U-19 national team.
If everything aligns, she’s poised to help the Trojans have a memorable season, perhaps even overtaking UCLA, the current reigning champions. “Sure, UCLA won the title this year,” she remarked. “But I believe we’ll claim it next year.”
