A registered sex offender is accused of spying on one residence before breaking into another and frightening its occupants in a California neighborhood on Friday night.
According to the Santa Rosa Police, Edward Carver, 36, was taken into custody after he forced his way into a home located on the 2700 block of Mohawk Street shortly before 11 p.m.
Police reports suggest that the suspect repeatedly slammed the front door, blocking the residents from getting out.
One resident managed to push Carver against a wall, but he managed to escape before the police arrived.
Earlier that night, officers had received reports of a man looking through a window and making inappropriate comments to nearby residents.
Following the break-in reports, police initiated a search involving multiple officers.
Carver was eventually found hiding in some bushes on Yuma Street and was arrested.
Santa Rosa police stated that they are informing the public about Carver’s status as a registered sex offender to ensure community safety, considering the nature of these new charges.
He is currently being held at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility with a bail set at $250,000, facing charges that include robbery, false imprisonment, and voyeurism while loitering.
Additionally, he is being held for violating parole related to a previous conviction.
Carver is set to appear in court on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
