Saquon Barkley is no longer worried about the New York Giants' woes, but he reached out to his former quarterback following their disastrous Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Barkley is already a star with the Philadelphia Eagles, with the star running back throwing three touchdowns in a win over his new team the Green Bay Packers last Friday.
Barkley had time to watch the game on Sunday and saw what happened to Jones and the backlash he received from fans after the game.

Heading into Week 2, Eagles reporters asked Barkley in the locker room if he had reached out to Jones after the bad game and the intense scrutiny.
“I spent six years there, I had a lot of friends there, so I have no hard feelings towards them,” Barkley said, via ESPN. “I hope they bounce back.”
Giants lineman Jermaine El-Monaud slams fans for 'inhumane' behavior towards Daniel Jones
“I talked to him. I'm really good friends with DJ. Obviously, he didn't play the way he wanted to play. I just told him to just go out there and play freely.”

Barkley was a consistent defender of Jones during the years when the playmaker struggled to consistently lead the Giants' offense. Jones preferred having Barkley in the backfield, just as he did any quarterback, but New York struggled to win.
But during the 2022 season, thanks to a healthy Barkley and an efficient Jones, the Giants not only made the playoffs, but beat the Vikings in the wild-card round before suffering a blowout loss in Philadelphia to the eventual NFC champions, the Eagles.
The Giants and their fans will be hoping to see Jones play with the freedom Barkley described in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders, a team that was blown out in Week 1 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
