Saquon Barkley to critics of time with Trump: 'Maybe I just respect the office'

The Philadelphia Eagles faced criticism on Monday for their association with Saquon Berkley and spending time with President Trump.

Berkley was seen with Trump in New Jersey on Sunday after enjoying a round of golf with the president.

“Haha, some individuals are really upset that I played golf and traveled to the White House with the President. Perhaps I respect the office rather than the difficult-to-grasp notion,” stated the NFL star. I mentioned in a post on Social Platform x.

“I recently played golf with Obama and am excited to finish my round with Trump!

Berkley and the Eagles are slated to visit the White House on Monday after their Super Bowl win earlier this year.

Berkley on Sunday departed the helicopter with the president, where he walked and conversed with Trump, who appeared to give him a pat on the back. Trump also remarked to journalists that Berkley was a “nice guy.”

“I thought about racing him, but I chose against it.” The president remarked.

Eagles players also seemed to enjoy taking a photo with the President at the White House on Sunday.

Trump attended this year’s Super Bowl and predicted the Kansas City Chiefs would defeat the Eagles, though he mentioned he was “a big supporter of both teams.”

Prior to the Super Bowl, he also referred to “Barkley” and praised his teammate Jalen as a “fantastic quarterback.”
