Saquon Barkley wears his Giants jersey at NHL Stadium Series game

Saquon Barkley may not be with the Giants next season, but he was still at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

The running back attended the NHL Stadium Series game between the Rangers and Islanders at the outdoor Meadowlands, along with several Giants teammates and several Jets players.

As the NFL offseason approaches, Barkley, whose future with the Giants remains uncertain, was spotted near the ice before the game, along with wide receiver Sterling Shepard, who will likely play his final game as a Giants heading into free agency. I was on stage. , quarterback Tommy DeVito.

Jets running back Breece Hall, linebacker CJ Mosley, and defensive linemen Quinnen Williams and Solomon Thomas were in attendance.

Barkley, who turned 27 earlier this month, just completed his sixth season after being selected by the Giants with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

His future with the team also came into question a year ago when the team decided to put the franchise tag on the running back while also signing quarterback Daniel Jones to a four-year, $160 million contract. Yes, it’s unclear. It was guaranteed for 2 years.

Jones was in the midst of a disappointing year, suffering a season-ending ACL tear after leading the Giants to the postseason with Barkley a year ago.

The Giants could use the franchise tag on Barkley again, which would be around $12.1 million, or they could test the free agent market.

This decision is expected to be made by March 5th.

“They know where I want to be,” Barkley said of Giants ownership in an interview with the Post’s Ryan Dunleavy during Super Bowl week in Las Vegas earlier this month. “The owners told me they wanted me to be a Giant for the rest of my life. Last year I gave it my all. I had work to do, and I couldn’t complete it.”
