The city of Philadelphia showered lots of brotherhood on Saquon Berkley on Friday, and the former Giants star returned it to Eagles fans and staff through the championship parade and celebration.
The 28-year-old running back has rushed for over 2,000 yards and won his first career Super Bowl ring in his first season at Philadelphia after leaving the Giants in free agency last year.
“We can't use words to describe this. Every time Philadelphia thinks it can't take it to another level, they raise it to 'another level',” Berkley parades. He spoke in a TV interview during the episode. “Me and my family are happy to be part of this organization and part of this city. Man, this team deserves it, and we're here. Masu.
“You're in one place. That's where you want to be and I want to retire there. I've come here and now I can't imagine playing anywhere else did.”
The three-time Pro Bowler signed a three-year contract worth $37.75 million with the Eagles in March after spending the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Giants.
Berkley was seen enjoying personal interactions with people along the parade route. This includes photo poses with a 3-year-old girl holding a sign indicating that it is her birthday.
Pennsylvania products also gave a word of mouth for finding the Eagles ball boy in the crowd and lifting him up on the barricade to join the celebration.
He then brought another fan named Ryan Quigley, an Eagles supporter and survivor of the New Orleans terrorist attack, onto the stage when he spoke to the crowd.
“I might have had too much fun,” said Berkley, who had a total of 97 yards in the Eagles' 40-21 victory over the Chiefs. “Every time they think they can't take it any more, they take it to a completely different level. It definitely exceeded expectations. Man, we've won the best fans in the world. .”
