Close Bond Between Barkley and Jones
Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones, once key players for the Giants, are finding new success outside of New York, which seems to be strengthening their connection.
They’ve been in touch quite a bit since their exits from the Giants. Recently, after a successful season with the Colts, Barkley expressed enthusiasm for Jones’ achievements.
“Daniel Jones! Let’s go! That’s my Dawg!” Barkley exclaimed. He mentioned wanting to catch up with Jones more often, though Jones playfully claimed he wouldn’t pick up the phone.
Jones, who now plays for the Indianapolis Colts, started his season strong, leading his team to a 2-0 record after victories against the Dolphins and the Broncos. In one of those games, he completed 23 out of 34 passes for 316 yards, clinching a narrow win with a touchdown.
“It’s great to see him starting off strong… he’s really fighting out there and applying what he learned during camp,” Barkley noted.
The duo enjoyed a memorable season in 2022, when the Giants made it to the playoffs, defeating the Vikings during wild card week. It was a standout year for both. Jones had a remarkable season, completing 317 passes for 3,205 yards, achieving a league-low interception rate, and securing a hefty four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Giants.
Barkley also had an impressive run that year, rushing for 1,312 yards and later winning a Super Bowl ring. In fact, his overall rushing record for the NFL, including playoffs, reached 2,504 yards.
While it’s still early in the season, Jones appears to be on the path to further accomplishments in Indianapolis.
“I really hope no one else performs as well as me, except for the Eagles,” Barkley shared. “I have faith in that. It might not always be football, but his work ethic and competitive spirit will show one day.”
Next up for Jones is a game against the Titans, who are currently 0-2, set for Sunday at 1 PM.
