Sara GonzalezThe host of BlazeTV's “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered” recently went undercover at a drag show in Texas and discovered underage attendees, despite the explicit nature of the performances.
On Friday, celebrity cross-dresser RuPaul said,RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars LIVEAt the music hall Fair ParkAt the event, which took place in a Dallas city park, Gonzalez filmed video of parts of the performance and other attendees, some of whom were apparently underage.
According to Gonzales' videoMany of the performers in the show wore costumes that exposed most of their bottoms as they shook and wriggled in front of the audience, and made a number of crude and explicit references to sexual acts and private body parts.
- “My pussy is on fire!”
- “It's really good.”
- “Is that pussy on fire?”
- “You guys did a good job for these seats!”
Gonzalez released the video footage on “Sara Gonzalez Unfiltered” on Tuesday, calling the drag show a form of “child abuse” and suggesting watching the show made her “sick.”
She later discussed the video with Texas Rep. Brian Harrison (R-Midlothian), who was similarly appalled that such a “nasty” and “utterly disgusting” performance was performed in front of “young children.”
In addition, the drag show SB12A bill passed last year banning “sexually oriented performances”[s](1) on public land, or (2) when a person under the age of 18 is present,” the federal judge then wrote. Permanent injunction Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton later opposed the bill and blocked its implementation. Appealed That order.
Harrison explained that while the bill cannot be enforced at this time due to the ongoing appeals process, the practices it was intended to prevent are still “illegal.” “Just because it's prohibited from being enforced doesn't mean it's abolished state law,” Harrison explained. “Those practices are still illegal in the state of Texas.”
Harrison also suggested Paxton is likely to win his appeal to reinstate SB 12. “I think the odds are pretty good,” he argued. “I'm actually somewhat optimistic.”
Harrison reiterated that such drag shows are not a free speech or First Amendment issue, but a child protection issue, and suggested that organizers of sexually explicit shows without age restrictions could eventually be “retroactively prosecuted” under SB 12.
“We're talking about adult, sexually explicit performances in front of minors engaged in commercial transactions on government property in the state of Texas,” he noted. “So I think they're operating at a bit of a risk.”
Gonzalez added that law enforcement may inspect the “hard drive.”[s]She claimed some attendees seemed desperate to “shake things up”. [their] “Shoving your ass up in front of the kids.”
Gonzalez ended by warning that she will continue to pursue those who sexualize children, especially in Texas. “Drag queens, I'm warning you!” she stated emphatically.
