‘Saturday Night Live’ Skewers Tim Walz over False Tiananmen Square Claims

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) and his claims that he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen massacre are patently false. saturday night live He strongly criticized the vice presidential candidate's false claims and his writhing behavior on the debate stage.

As Breitbart News reported, Walz previously told reporters that he “got the date wrong.”

“In 1989 I was in Hong Kong, China, and the move from Hong Kong to China was very profound for me. It was the summer of democracy, and I realized there how sacred democracy is. I said I understood.”

SNL quickly joined in the ridicule that ensued at the latest show.

“Governor Walz. You claimed to have been in Hong Kong at the time of the Tiananmen massacre while at your home in Minnesota. Can you explain that?” The skit was performed during Saturday's cold open.

Waltz, played by comedian Jim Gaffigan, said: “I think what happened was I went to Epcot. You can travel all over the world, but there was a couple in the German division, so I went to China.'' That's what I thought. Anyway, I'm dumb.”
