“Saturday Night Live” focused on student anti-Israel protests on a cold Saturday, especially from the perspective of parents whose children attend Columbia University.
Kenan Thompson played He is the father of a Columbia University student and began by praising the young man who stood up for his beliefs during a mock interview. But when asked specifically about her daughter, Ms. Thompson said, “I prefer her butt out in class.”
“Let me find her in one of those damn tents instead of the dorm room I’m paying for,” he said, before the interviewer questioned his initial statement about student aid.
“I agree with your children’s protests. My children know better,” Thompson said. When asked what he thought about the group of protesters who took over Hamilton Hall, a university building on Columbia University’s campus, he said, “That’s good for your kids, but they’re not mine.” ” he answered.

Thompson said it was “sensitive” for Columbia to charge $68,000 a year in tuition.
“I’m busting my butt to come here to pay all my tuition,” Thompson said. “I do it all. I Uber all day, I Uber Eats all night. I mow grass on the weekends, I sell Gucci purses out of my truck. I’m a bounty hunter whenever I can. All of this. is just so she can say she got her African American degree.’ It’s like, girl, you’ve always been black, you know what that is. ”
Thompson revealed exactly what she plans to do when her daughter graduates, insisting that the university will hold a graduation ceremony even if she has to graduate. Several universities are considering canceling graduation ceremonies as anti-Israel protests occupy campuses.
“You can take it to the bank. This girl started college during the coronavirus period,” he said. “They paid $68,000 in tuition to put me out here, and now she’s taking a Zoom class at my house and learning Applied History of the BET Awards. If she hadn’t been walking. Columbia University will be in the news for something else!”

After protesters occupied Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall on Monday, police cleared it on Tuesday.
Encampments on campus were also cleared of agitators, leaving only their tents when the attack ended.
Students protesting the Israel-Hamas war have been gathering on university campuses in recent weeks in an effort to force universities to divest from companies with ties to Israel.
