Savannah Guthrie's Emotional Interview Uncovers New Information About Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance

Savannah Guthrie Shares Emotional Insights on Her Mother’s Disappearance

Savannah Guthrie opened up about her mother’s unsettling disappearance during an emotional interview previewed on Wednesday.

In Thursday’s episode of “Today,” she spoke with Hoda Kotb, sharing new information about the crime scene and the moment she believed something terrible had happened to her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.

In tears, Savannah expressed her worry that her own status and wealth may have contributed to her mother’s abduction. “Do you think it’s my fault?” she remembered asking her brother.

Reflecting on her mother’s situation, she said, “I think someone thought, ‘Oh, that woman has money. She’ll be worth something soon.’ It’s a terrible thought, but we just don’t know.”

She added how devastating it is, saying, “I brought this to her bedside and I can’t bear to think it’s my fault. I just say, ‘I’m sorry, Mom. I’m so sorry. If it were me, I’d be so sorry.'”

When Savannah arrived at her mother’s house, she found the back door wide open. Initially, she had thought perhaps medical personnel had taken her mother out on a stretcher, but after making frantic calls to local hospitals, she began to realize the harsh reality of the situation.

“The door was thrown open, there was blood on the porch, and the Ring camera had been torn off,” she recounted, realizing with dread that “something is very wrong here.”

She referred to a ransom note sent to the media, demanding millions in Bitcoin for her mother’s return. While the note had not been verified by police, she said one sent directly to the family seemed genuine.

Each night, she wakes up imagining her mother’s fear in the dark, and tears came to her eyes at the thought of the masked figure captured on CCTV taking her mother from her bed, wearing only pajamas and no shoes.

Desperately, Savannah called for assistance from the public, encouraging anyone who might recall something about Nancy to come forward. “Someone has to do the right thing. We are suffering. We are suffering,” she pleaded through her tears.

This heartfelt interview aired 54 days after her mother went missing.
