Savannah Guthrie's mother Nancy's pacemaker stopped connecting with her Apple Watch during her disappearance

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, experienced a malfunction with her pacemaker that prevented it from syncing with her Apple Watch early Sunday morning, shortly before she went missing.

According to law enforcement sources, the pacemaker last connected with the device around 2 a.m. on Sunday, prompting investigators to suspect she may have been taken out of range at that time.

A representative from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office has yet to provide a reply to inquiries about the situation.

Nancy was last seen Saturday evening after her daughter, Annie Guthrie, dropped her off at home in Catalina Foothills, Arizona, following dinner. The next morning, a family member alerted authorities after Nancy failed to appear for church.

During a press conference on Monday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that Nancy’s home is currently being viewed as a “crime scene.”

“Now that we have processed that crime scene, we believe there is an actual crime scene, there was an actual crime, and we are asking for the community’s assistance,” he said. He expressed that they believe she did not leave on her own and noted that the circumstances seem suspicious.

Nanos urged residents to review home security footage to help in the search efforts, emphasizing the urgency due to Nancy’s need for daily medication.

A spokesperson from the Sheriff’s Department indicated that investigators think Nancy was forcibly taken from her home, possibly in the middle of the night. They are exploring the possibility of kidnapping.

Moreover, reports have emerged detailing signs of forced entry into her home, along with blood stains found, although it’s unclear if they belong to her.

Since Nancy’s disappearance, Savannah, who is 54, has been relying on support from her family, including her siblings Annie and Camron Guthrie.

“They rely on each other,” Nanos shared, highlighting the strong support among the family during this difficult time. He mentioned that the “Today” host and her family are actively engaged in the ongoing investigation into Nancy’s case.

“It’s tough, but there’s no question about it,” Nanos concluded, noting the strain of the situation.
