Scammer impersonates Bermuda premier, promotes fake token – Cointelegraph

The con man pretending to be Bermuda's Prime Minister David Burt created a fake profile on the X social media platform, promoting fraudulent tokens called “Bermuda National Coin.”

The fake profile is reserved for government officials, with only 45 posts, with the oldest posts from fake accounts up to February 2, 2025.

Bart Authentic The account has a blue checkmark, 6,245 posts and 12,200 followers, significantly fewer than the scam account, and joined the platform in July 2014.

On February 14, Prime Minister Burt noticed the fraudulent account, warned users of the malicious actors, tagging both the platform and Elon Musk with messages that grabbed his attention.

“I don't know how they got the grey verification badge, but people would be scam because of the lack of control in this app. Please fix it,” the prime minister wrote to X. post.

Despite the complaints, at the time of this writing, fake profiles remain active on social media sites amidst the recent memocoin and token scams that include heads of state and prominent entities.

Milei promotes and distances herself from Libra tokens

Following the release of the official Trump Memocoin, debate broke out over the utility of political mimecoin and the possibility that social tokens could revolutionize capital formation.

In the hype of political memo coins, Argentine President Javier Mairay promoted a token project called Viva La Libertad in the now-abolized X-Post.

The initiative was reportedly launched to provide financial aid to Argentine startups and local businesses.

The project features a token called Libra (Libra), which crashed more than 95% within hours of launch, with $107 million in rag pull and insider trading accusations.

Milei retracted his previous support for the project and distanced himself from Libra on social media amid the collapse of the token.

“I didn't know the details of the project, so after realising it, I decided not to continue spreading the word. So I deleted the tweet.”
