Tiffany Henyard, the scandal-plagued Democratic mayor of Dalton, Illinois, has announced she will run for a second term.
“Attention, attention, attention” Henyard wrote in a Facebook post.. “I am running for re-election as mayor of Dalton.”
She was first elected as mayor of Dolton, a south suburb of Chicago, in 2021 after serving two terms on the village board. She won in a landslide, receiving more than 80% of the votes.
Mr. Henyard, who designated himself as a “super mayor,” was called “America's worst mayor” by residents. She was given this nickname after her tenure was plagued by controversies, including mismanagement of funds.

Her re-election announcement comes as she is leading a lawsuit against multiple village trustees, the Dalton Park District, village clerk and village administrator.
The legal dispute stems from a controversial previous village board meeting in which Henyard claims he violated procedures.
