Scaramucci: Trump will do ‘everything he can to expand executive powers’

Former Trump communications director Anthony Scaramucci warned on Tuesday that he would “do everything possible” to expand executive power if the former president is re-elected to the White House in November.

“What’s really scary is, if you know this guy, he will do anything to expand the power of the executive branch. He has a belief in expanding what is called unified executive power. He has a very strong team working with him on his campaign.” Scaramucci said Tuesday. He said this in an interview with CNN.

Scaramucci, who worked with Trump’s campaign team and the White House for 11 days before being fired by the president, quipped that his former boss “doesn’t understand” the Constitution’s separation of powers.

“So this is a problem we have to fight. To truly understand the wonders of the American Republican system, [there] “These are the great checks and balances and separation of powers in our Constitution,” he said. “Mr. Trump deplores it. He doesn’t really understand it, but he’s going to go after it, so we have to stop him.”

In recent months, there have been growing concerns that the former president could act like a dictator. Those concerns were further exacerbated after he made comments on the “first day” of his second term that he would act like a dictator if re-elected. .

Scaramucci on Tuesday cited what he believed to be Trump’s “worldview” and warned that it would be a “disaster for the international community.”

“Thankfully, his worldview is not well expressed by him. But Trump’s worldview, and its adherent Steve Bannon, has taken America back to the 1890s and is both physically and figuratively “We are trying to separate the United States from the rest of the world’s civilization.” “He will also have a very strong anti-immigrant stance, which will be a disaster for the international community.

“The end result will be a long and debilitating disaster for the American people,” he added.

Since leaving the White House, Mr. Scaramucci has emerged as a vocal critic of Mr. Trump. Last month, he cited President Trump’s comments on foreign policy and NATO, encouraging Russian aggression against “delinquent” NATO members, before accusing former President Trump of having an “affair with Vladimir Putin.” insisted.

He has vowed to campaign for President Biden if Trump wins the Republican presidential nomination, and recently called the former president “the most un-American presidential candidate in American history.”

The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.
