SCOFF LIMITS: ‘South Park’ that criticizes Trump oddly overlooked Biden

Mixed Reactions to Guest Hosts on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The recent influx of guest hosts on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” has sparked some intriguing thoughts. It makes one ponder whether we might actually be missing something—something different, perhaps?

Now, don’t get me wrong—Kimmel’s obsession with Trump has been the source of much laughter, but lately, it feels a bit tired. This week’s guest hosts remind us that, well, there are even less appealing choices out there than Kimmel himself.

Reports suggest that the production team may have utilized AI to create a character portrayed by Jason Momoa.

Take Anthony Anderson from “Black-ish” as an example. I mean, credit where it’s due—Anderson doesn’t break down in tears like Kimmel often does. Yet, one of his jokes recently was, well, painful.

In one of his monologues, he joked about Trump sneaking out of Turkey in a catering cart post-NATO summit. It’s like, come on, why even go there? That’s the kind of thing that’s hard to believe. Trump wasn’t on Epstein’s plane, right? Everyone knows that.

Remember how the late-night shows used to discuss Bill Clinton’s inauguration? He was reported to have boarded the Lolita Express 26 times. Funny how Kimmel and others seem to forget that little nugget…

A Peek into AI Usage in Hollywood

There’s this darkly humorous “Simpsons” meme that illustrates a gathering of people who have, well, had enough. The punchline—”Stop! You’re already dead!”—has caught on.

Now, it appears “Supergirl” is the next big thing in the spotlight. This year, the Warner Bros. venture stirred up quite a conversation among critics and audiences alike, putting the director, James Gunn, in a bit of a bind.

Recently, a behind-the-scenes featurette revealed that AI was used to enhance the film’s production. Unbelievably, the creative team seems to have relied on AI to design a robot character played by Jason Momoa. Yikes! That’s usually a big no-no in Hollywood, but, well, resistance to tech is a growing trend.

Warner Bros. has since pulled the video from YouTube, but word spreads quickly in this age, doesn’t it? Seems like Kryptonite isn’t the only thing Supergirl has to worry about…

South Park’s Subtle Commentary

So, what’s up with the sudden attention from legacy media towards “South Park”? It’s not all about the antics of Cartman or Butters, that’s for sure.

The show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have been relentless in their critiques of President Trump throughout the last season. They’ve been tough. Now, it seems there’s some admiration for the series from media outlets.

Imagine that!

This week, Deadline highlighted “South Park’s” historical take on U.S. presidents over the years. Strangely enough, they noted that one specific leader, Joseph Robinette Biden, hasn’t had much of a presence in the show. They pointed out that the only significant role he had—an animated cameo—was cut. The creators might just be avoiding any portrayal of a leader who, well, isn’t all there…

Changes in Hollywood’s Blacklist

The concept of blacklisting has morphed considerably over time.

In the past, Hollywood was infamous for expelling communist sympathizers. Nowadays, we see individuals facing backlash for simply hinting at support for President Trump. Take James Woods, for example—he hasn’t starred in a major role for about a decade. So, La La Land seems willing to overlook his two Oscar nominations to keep independent thinkers away from the set.

Then there’s Cheryl Hines, whose career seemed to fizzle as soon as her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., threw his hat in the Trump campaign ring.

Melissa Barrera, former “Scream” actress, recently voiced her grievances about being blacklisted for her pro-Palestinian comments.

“So many have lost their jobs just for advocating for Palestinian rights,” she noted.

Interesting use of “basically” there. That doesn’t really get to the heart of why she and others faced a backlash, nor does it explain the sudden uptick in her activity.

Her recent projects include “Your Monster” (2024), “Abigail” (2024), and “The Copenhagen Test” (2025), not to mention her Broadway debut earlier this year.

It appears that the blacklist is still a work in progress.
